NDIS Cleaning Rates Calculator 2026
Current NDIS cleaning rates, claim codes and a free hour-by-hour cost estimate โ Australia-wide.
NDIS cleaning rates explained
NDIS cleaning is funded under Assistance with Daily Life โ Household Tasks, using support code 01_019_0120_1_1. The hourly rate is set by the NDIA in the current NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits and changes each year on 1 July. Rates differ for weekdays, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, and increase for NDIS participants in remote and very remote areas (MMM 6 and 7 under the Modified Monash Model).
The calculator above estimates your weekly cost using the current applicable price limit, your home size, the type of clean (standard, deep, or higher-intensity), and your postcode's remoteness loading. It is an estimate โ your actual quote depends on your provider's pricing and the specifics of your NDIS plan.
How NDIS cleaning rates are set
Every NDIS-funded support has a price limit โ the maximum hourly amount providers can charge under the NDIS Pricing Arrangements and Price Limits(formerly the NDIS Price Guide). The price limit for the standard House Cleaning support item is reviewed annually and indexed against the Aged Care Award. Cleaning rates are not fixed prices โ they are caps. Registered providers must charge at or below the limit, and they must be transparent about pricing in your service agreement.
The price guide also distinguishes between standard household tasks and higher-intensity daily tasks (support item 01_020_0120_1_1), which apply where a participant's disability requires support workers with specialist training โ for example, infection control, complex behavioural support, or cleaning around medical equipment. The calculator uses the higher-intensity rate when you select that service type.
Day-of-week and travel-time loadings
NDIS cleaning rates rise on weekends and public holidays. The price guide specifies four day types: weekday daytime, Saturday, Sunday, and public holiday. Saturday and Sunday rates typically run 25โ50% above the weekday rate, and public-holiday rates higher again. Most regular weekly cleans are scheduled on weekdays for this reason, with weekend slots reserved for participants whose support needs require it.
Travel time is also claimable in some cases โ the NDIS allows providers to charge for the time a worker spends travelling to your appointment, capped per-claim and only when the visit can't reasonably be combined with another participant. Travel rates also vary by MMM zone. If a quote includes travel, your provider should itemise it in your service agreement.
Who can claim NDIS cleaning support
Cleaning support is available to NDIS participants whose plan funds Assistance with Daily Living and lists Household Tasks as a goal. The way you can engage providers depends on your plan-management type:
- NDIA-managed: you can only use NDIS-registered providers. Cleaning is paid directly to the provider against support code 01_019_0120_1_1.
- Plan-managed: a plan manager pays your invoices. You can use registered or non-registered providers for cleaning support, as long as their hourly rate sits at or below the current price limit.
- Self-managed: you have full flexibility โ registered or non-registered providers โ and can negotiate above the price limit if you choose to (paying the difference yourself is rare but allowed).
Most participants find that plan management gives them the widest range of cleaning services without the admin of self-management.
Common pitfalls to avoid
- Wrong support item. Standard cleaning claimed under 01_020_0120_1_1 (higher-intensity) without supporting evidence will be rejected.
- Cleaning vs. yard maintenance. Yard work, lawn mowing and gutter cleaning are separate from house cleaning and use different support items. Don't bundle them on a single invoice.
- Above-limit charges. If a registered provider charges above the price limit, the excess can't be claimed against your plan. Always check the line rate in your service agreement before signing.
- Double-billing for travel. Travel time is claimable, but only once, and only when the visit isn't grouped with another participant.

The standard NDIS support code for cleaning is 01_019_0120_1_1 โ House Cleaning and Other Household Activities, claimed under Assistance with Daily Life. What are NDIS house cleaning rates in 2026?
House cleaning under the NDIS is paid at the price limit for support code 01_019_0120_1_1. Rates vary by day type (weekday, Saturday, Sunday, public holiday) and by location remoteness (metro vs remote / very remote). Check the latest NDIS Pricing Arrangements for current limits.
